These paintings represent many of my experiences and emotions, growing up in Jamaica, including brilliant colours, beaches, boats, sea, jellyfish, beautiful skies, and colorful landscapes.
In “Safe Harbor”, “No Fish Today”, "Going with the Flow" and “Boats on the Bay”, I am inspired by the clean, crisp colours of a laid-back Caribbean island beach: the sand, sea, jellyfish, and brightly-painted fishing boats. In “Floating Wish Lanterns”, “On the Edge”, “Light up your Life”, “...Stars in the Sky”, “Flying High”, and “Riding High”, I focus on the bright side and the hope for light at the end of the tunnel. The concept in “Happy Houses Under Construction”, is the building of happiness from the ground up. “Steps to Enlightenment” promotes the acquisition of knowledge through books as the stepping stones to boundless opportunities; and to provide the enlightenment and “Food for Thought” to invoke an appreciation of “Diversity”. “Happy Houses in the Flower Fields” and "Spotted" symbolize a lifestyle of peace, tranquillity, love and happiness amongst nature's dazzling colours. “Industrial Revolution” inspires us to chart a course for a cleaner environment.
